Child Protection Statement

JCGS fully recognises its moral and statutory responsibility in China as well as meeting international standards to safeguard and promote the welfare of all children. We endeavour to provide a safe and welcoming environment where children are respected and valued. We are alert to the signs of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that receive effective support, protection and justice.

Policy Principles

JCGS’s principles are aligned with those of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Central to this is the acknowledgment that every child has basic fundamental rights. These include the right to:

· life, survival and development

· protection from violence, abuse or neglect

· an education that enables children to fulfil their potential

· be raised by, or have a relationship with, their parents

· express their opinions and be listened to.

Therefore, the welfare of the child is paramount.

· All children, regardless of age, gender, ability, culture, race, language, religion or sexual identity, have equal rights to protection;

· All members of staff have equal responsibility to act on any suspicion or disclosure that may suggest a child is at risk of harm;

· Children and staff involved in child protection issues will receive appropriate support.
